Celebrating Atlas Systems, Inc. and Recorded Books: 1000 Days on The Medalist List

Two WiLS vendor partners, Atlas Systems, Inc. and Recorded Books, have spent 1000 days on WiLS’ Medalist List, the list of our vendor partners who have kept their yearly price increases at or below 3%. And these two vendors are Gold vendors, which means they have kept their increase at or below 1%. 1000 days! That’s two years, eight months, and nine days without asking more than a one percent increase on yearly subscription renewals.

From all of us here at WiLS, thank you. We deeply value these vendors’ commitment to helping our cooperative purchasing service members afford the information resources their communities need.

Atlas is best known for creating the ILLiad interlibrary loan management system now exclusively distributed by OCLC and used by more than 1,100 libraries worldwide. Focused on bringing the benefits of automation to library processes that have not been addressed by other software services, Atlas has introduced Ares, an electronic reserves solution, and Aeon, an online request and workflow management system specifically designed for special collections libraries and archives. Atlas takes a process-driven approach to software development. Atlas developers work closely with librarians first to understand the specific user services environment and then to design a system that improves service quality while achieving optimum efficiency and process control. Once the software has been created, Atlas provides implementation, training, and ongoing product support, including continual development of new features and enhancements in response to client needs and desires. This workflow review and improvement approach to software design sets Atlas apart in the library automation market.

Recorded Books, LLC, is dedicated to creating the finest books, audio products, periodicals, software and online services, serving K-12 supplemental education, public and school library publishing, audiobooks, and legal and medical publishing.  Recorded Books has established a reputation for producing top-tier content. The recordings are produced at the company’s studios in New York and Connecticut, leveraging an extensive universe of consistent and loyal independent contract narrators. Audiobooks from Recorded Books undergo a thorough editing, proofreading, and quality-control process.
