Our financial strength means we can turn ideas into reality. Investing in our members drives innovation and collaboration that, in turn, fuels other libraries to take projects further. This series, written by award recipients, highlights projects and outcomes of the 2019 WiLS Ideas to Action Fund. If you’d like your project considered for the 2020 award period, visit our Ideas to Action website or email us at .
With the money from WiLS Ideas to Action Grant, Fox Valley Technical College is planning a Create Fest for Medical Terminology on April 24 at the Appleton campus. This will allow students to take Medical Terminology with no textbook costs. FVTC’s Val Magno has a great start to a Medical Terminology LibGuide (https://library.fvtc.edu/MedTerms ).
Morning presentations will include Dr. Hilary Barker from the Wisconsin Technical College System will talk about Open Educational Resources in Wisconsin technical colleges, Cindy Domaika from Nicolet College will talk about Pressbooks, and Josh Janikowski will give us a demo on the Jukebox Virtual Reality game his team from FVTC Learning Innovations (Wisc-Online) is upgrading to VR for Medical Terminology students to make learning fun. All are welcome for the morning presentations.
Invitations have been sent out to all technical colleges with resources to start reviewing before the Create Fest. The day of the fest instructors will sign up for a project to work on, such as assessment, resources, reports, textbooks, and games.
The Create Fest will be a great day of creativity and collaboration. Our goal is to make affordable resources for all Wisconsin technical college students. Questions? Please contact Jane Roisum at .
