Resource Sharing Update from WiLS and UW-Madison—April 22, 2013
Beginning July 1, 2013, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Libraries will incorporate lending into its full range of interlibrary loan and document delivery services. The UW-Madison Libraries’ staff has been developing the workflows for incorporating lending into its suite of interlibrary loan and document delivery services offered by this campus.
- After July 1, all requests for materials held in the UW-Madison collections, including the State Historical Society Library, should continue to be sent to the OCLC symbol GZM. Staff will fill materials from *all* Madison campus collections that permit the lending and copying of materials for interlibrary loan.
- After July 1, WiLS will no longer be used as UW-Madison’s lending agent. UW-Madison will continue to offer a reduced ILL lending fee of $7.95 for Wisconsin libraries willing to charge UW-Madison that same fee. If you are interested in setting up this reciprocal arrangement, please contact Joy Pohlman at . Arrangements with DPI and Minitex are currently under discussion.
- Requests from UW-System libraries remain reciprocal.
- UW-Madison’s per item fee remains $20/IFM for libraries outside of official agreements such as those mentioned above. Payment can be made via OCLC IFM (preferred), invoice, or credit cards. If not via IFM, UW-Madison will send invoices regularly.
- You can continue to ship materials back to the UW-Madison campus via the SCLS red box using the GZM symbol.
If you have questions about any of these decisions, please contact Heather Weltin, Facilitator for Cooperative Sharing & Storage at .
There will be a joint webinar scheduled with WiLS staff and UW-Madison Libraries lending staff to answer your questions and to provide more details on April 22, 1:00-2:00. To register for the webinar, complete this form, and the connection link will be sent to you.
