WiLSWorld Shorts: Building Curiosity, Confidence, and Community Through Making

The first of the 2018 WiLSWorld Shorts, Building Curiosity, Confidence, and Community Through Making was held on Friday, was held on March 9th, 1:00 pm. Thank you if you were able to attend! If you weren’t, you can find the recording of the webinar here or view the slides here!

Makerspaces are increasingly recognized for reigniting a passion for active learning and creation. They are also credited for developing creativity, confidence, and other “soft skills” such as collaboration, problem-solving, and communication. Wendy Harrop of Summit Elementary School will share her four-year makerspace journey and vision for what’s next on the horizon. Dr. Jacie Maslyk, author, veteran educator, and Assistant Superintendent at Hopewell Area School District builds bridges between classrooms and libraries through STREAM. She will review current books that lend themselves to connecting children’s literature and making. Angie Schoeneck of Demco will take you on a 3D tour of makerspaces, helping you imagine how you can transform space into a powerful place for exploration and learning.

WiLSWorld Shorts are quarterly, free webinars to continue the learning that happens at WiLSWorld all year long!  These webinars are designed to do all the same things as WiLSWorld – connect our member community around important issues, foster the exchange of ideas, and help members form professional connections and collaborations to get done what they need to get done.

The meeting will be recorded and shared but we do hope to see you there!  If you have suggestions for other topics you’d like to hear more about or that you’d like to share with other WiLS members in WiLSWorld Shorts, contact us at .
