WiLS and Recollection Wisconsin offer various services to support you as you plan, create, grow, share, and use your digital collections.

Digitization Project Consulting and Training

Through the Recollection Wisconsin program, WiLS offers training and guidelines to help plan and launch a successful, sustainable digitization project. Customized training can include guidance on project planning, selecting materials for digitization, copyright, digital imaging, metadata, promotion and digital preservation. Basic guidelines and tutorials are freely available from Recollection Wisconsin.

Digital Preservation Consulting

Need help with tackling the challenge of digital preservation? WiLS can provide guidance to help ensure that your digitized and born-digital content remains available and accessible into the future. Recollection Wisconsin Program Manager Emily Pfotenhauer is a certified trainer for the Library of Congress’s Digital Preservation Outreach and Education (DPOE) program and is happy to discuss your digital preservation needs

Digital Interpretation

Getting materials digitized is only part of the equation. How can you help your patrons understand and connect with your unique collections? We can provide inspiration and strategies for creating online exhibitions and engaging patrons with historical content through social media.

Content Hosting

Interested in sharing cultural heritage materials online, but not sure how to provide access to your unique local content? In partnership with the Milwaukee Public Library, WiLS offers hosting for digital content in CONTENTdm for Recollection Wisconsin participants. A one-time start-up fee of $200 is required. Annual hosting fees are based on the size of your digital collection.

The Upper Midwest Digital Creators and Curators Google Group, jointly moderated by WiLS and Minitex, is a place to share and discuss ideas, tips, news, and continuing education opportunities regarding digital collection development, digital content management, digital preservation, and related issues for libraries, archives and museums in the Upper Midwest.

CONTENTdm Training and Consulting

WiLS is a training partner for OCLC products and services, including CONTENTdm digital content management software. Free CONTENTdm Basic Skills webinars are offered each month by WiLS staff and other OCLC trainers around the country. We can also provide customized training and consulting for new and experienced CONTENTdm users.
