Join us in Minneapolis for the first-ever Upper Midwest Digital Collections Conference, August 18-19 at the University of St. Thomas. WiLS is thrilled to be jointly organizing this conference with Minitex. OCLC is providing sponsorship, as the conference will include a Northern CONTENTdm Users Group Meeting on August 18 followed by a more general “all things digital” day on August 19.

Day One: Northern CONTENTdm Users Group Meeting

  • Keynote from Matthew Butler of the University of Iowa’s DIY History crowdsourcing initiative

  • CONTENTdm update and Q&A with Christian Sarason, CONTENTdm Product Manager

  • Six breakout sessions from CONTENTdm users on website customizations, legacy metadata, tab-delimited spreadsheets and providing access to maps and postcards in CONTENTdm

  • Subject-specific “birds of a feather” dinners with like-minded colleagues at downtown Minneapolis restaurants

 

Day Two:  All Things Digital

  • Keynote from the New York Public Library Labs’ Matthew Miller

  • Twelve breakout sessions from digital content practitioners, including:

    • Building and marketing institutional repositories

    • Understanding linked data

    • The Linked Jazz Project from NYPL Labs

    • Creating interactive timelines

    • Managing research data and born-digital content

    • Digitizing maps, music and local history collections

    • A Digital Public Library of America update
