At WiLS, we want to bring valuable information to our library partners, including information about the missions and big ideas of the vendors they may already do business with. Each month, WiLS interviews a vendor partner in order to bridge the gap and open the door to valuable collaborations. This month, we share insights from David Brooks, District Manager of Gale / Cengage Learning. Read more
WiLSWorld is WiLS’ annual library technology and innovation conference and will be held on July 27th and 28th, 2017 at the Pyle Center in Madison. This year, WiLS is pleased to announce the keynote speaker for WiLSWorld 2017 will be Dr. Safiya U. Noble!
As a result of our Regional Meetings this fall, we crowd-sourced this excellent list of potential community partners from your work you did as part of the community mapping exercise. We hope that you find these lists useful as you grow your strategic partnerships to benefit your libraries and organizations!
One of our greatest joys at WiLS is hearing our members tell the stories of the big and important work they are doing – interesting new projects or initiatives, or even interesting and new approaches to old projects. And, in addition to hearing about it, it makes us even happier when we can share those stories with other members. Each month, WiLS is proud to feature an interview with one of our library members. This month, we interview Teresa Voss, Library Media Specialist at the Verona Area School District.

This free webinar was hosted by WiLS and presented by Sheila Stoeckel on Thursday, November 3rd from 1-2pm! Below is the recording from the webinar and you can find all the responses to the chat question about your enduring ideas here.
Sheila is Director of the UW-Madison Libraries Teaching & Learning Programs and one of the 2016 winners of the WAAL Information Literacy Award for Sift & Winnow: Libraries@UW, a highly interactive online learning tutorial for students with direct assessment measures. Sheila also serves on the ACRL Student Learning & Information Literacy Committee’s Framework group.
The Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education moves library instruction from a standards approach to “interconnected core concepts.” During this webinar, we’ll talk about how to use the frames in your instructional design. Using a modified Backward Design approach, you’ll be able to design effective and engaging library instruction sessions. Strategies for assessment and evaluation will also be included. Bring your Framework for Information Literacy questions, experiences, challenges, and examples to share with colleagues.
