WiLS 2014 Regional Community Meetings

It’s almost September, which means back-to-school, football season, and most importantly, our Fall Regional Meetings!!

We have a great theme for this year’s meetings:  Raising visibility for the library in the community.  These meetings are free and open to all members, so register today!

We all understand the significant ways that library services and spaces have changed over the last few decades; library professionals like you have been the key drivers of that change!  To keep pace with new technology, changing populations, budget fluctuations, and shifting expectations, our libraries have evolved to respond to these changes and the needs of our unique communities.

But how well do our communities understand what our libraries are today? How do we communicate what the library is and what it can do for our stakeholders and users?  How do we raise the visibility of the library in the community (whether that’s a municipality, a school district, an academic institution, or an organization)? How do we best convey the value of the library?  What are the barriers to being seen in the community?

Those will be the topics we tackle at each of the six meetings.

We are very happy to be co-organizing these meetings with the Wisconsin Library Association.  This topic of visibility is important to advocacy and promotion of all types of libraries.   Plumer Lovelace, WLA Executive Director Extraordinaire, has helped to develop the sessions, and will be on hand for most of the meetings.

As always, the most important part of these meetings is YOU.  They are an opportunity for you to share your successes and not-so-successes, to learn from one another, and network in a casual and relaxed afternoon.

Register for a meeting today. Share this information with all your friends and colleagues! We are looking forward to spending the Fall with you.
