About WiLS Cooperative Purchasing Service

Cooperative Purchasing and Database Management

Cooperative Purchasing is WiLS’ flagship service, and we’ve been doing it now for many years.  And while this service continues to save significant money and time for our member libraries, it also frees up your library’s resources and allows you to develop innovative services.  WiLS Cooperative Purchasing does not work, however, without significant community involvement; it requires participation in numbers to have the purchasing power to drive down vendor prices and price increases year-to-year.  Your membership to WiLS Cooperative Purchasing service not only saves you time and money, but each subscription you purchase through WiLS helps to save other Wisconsin libraries money as well, and in turn, allows them to do more with their current resources.  This is the core mission of WiLS – to expand impact through collaboration.  When we do things together, we can do more and do it better.

Save Money

WiLS’ Cooperative Purchasing service can save members money on an array of items, including database subscriptions, e-books, software, furniture, and more.  The service reduces the cost of library subscriptions and goods in two ways:  WiLS purchases databases on behalf of groups of libraries so the price to each library is reduced and WiLS’ strong relationships with vendors allows them to negotiate discounts to get the best deal possible for members.

Save Time

Because WiLS has established partnerships with vendors, WiLS members have access to the negotiated, discounted prices without the need to communicate with multiple vendors on a case-by-case basis.  The WiLS subscription service fully manages the subscription process, including trials, negotiations, renewals, support, and invoicing.  WiLS’ simplified ordering and invoicing processes condense all library subscriptions into a single document, and WiLS will invoice when it’s convenient for you.  For a small additional fee, WiLS can even create training videos for your electronic resources for use by either staff or users.
