Call for Proposals: St. Norbert College T3 Conference

WiLS member St. Norbert College is hosting their 5th Annual Transformative Teaching and Technology (T3) Conference on May 22, 2018.

The T3 conference focuses on ways that technology is being used to transform the teaching and learning experience. They are happy to announce that Robin DeRosa, Professor and Chair of Interdisciplinary Studies at Plymouth State University, will be joining them again this year to kick off the conference!

They hope you will consider joining them and submitting a proposal. They are especially interested in faculty sharing innovative teaching practices – successes as well as failures! Please share this invitation with your colleagues that would enjoy sharing their experiences. It is great event to spark some new ideas.

Great Spring Promotion from Credo

WiLS vendor-partner, Credo, has an exciting promotion for both new and existing subscribers. It’s a three-part deal, so we’ll summarize each option in brief with more details below.

Option 1: For WiLS Members Currently Subscribing to Credo Products
Get a 30% discount on any purchase over $2,500 and lock in a flat renewal rate on your existing subscriptions.

Option 2: For WiLS Members Currently Subscribing to Credo Products
Buy into a $5,000 evidence-based acquisition opportunity, giving full access to four subject areas of your choice for 6 months. At the end of the EBA period, you’ll select $7,150 worth of content to keep forever. You’ll also lock in a flat renewal rate on your existing subscriptions for two years.

Option 3: For WiLS Members Not Currently Subscribing to Credo Products

WiLS Ideas to Action Funds Available!

The deadline for submitting your proposals to WiLS Ideas to Action Fund has passed for 2018 but mark your calendars for April 2019 for another round of funding!

WiLS wants to help bring your ideas to life!

Introducing the new WiLS Ideas to Action Fund! WiLS’ mission is to help our members turn ideas into action. The new WiLS Ideas to Action Fund seeks to do just that – provide support for innovative or collaborative projects in order to help our members reach their goals and have a positive impact on the Wisconsin library ecosystem.

What type of support, you ask? In this first year of the Ideas to Action Fund, WiLS will award a maximum of $25,000 (up to $5,000 per applicant) and a total of 25 hours of WiLS staff time. We recognize that sometimes the barrier to completing a project is not lack of funds, but the lack of time to plan or think about the process. Instead of or in addition to funding, organizations can apply for WiLS staff time to help organize the project or provide expertise in facilitation, survey administration, or other project activities.

We are now accepting proposals! Proposals for the 2018 Ideas to Action Fund can be submitted through May 14 using this application form.

Awards will be announced and funds will be distributed in June 2018.

Call to Action: Ask Senators to Protect LSTA and IAL Funding

Now that the “Dear Appropriator” letters have started to circulate in the Senate, it’s time to ask Senators to preserve over $210 million in federal library funding. One letter asks the Senate Appropriations Committee to fully fund the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) and the second letter asks for full funding for the Innovative Approaches to Literacy (IAL) program.
