Massive Open Online Course: Climate Change Policy and Public Health

MOOCs_fl_red-4cGENERAL INFORMATION

UW-Madison and public libraries across the state are teaming up to help provide community members education about climate change and public health.  Libraries will be hosting discussion sections for the MOOC and participating in “Bike to the Library” and other events.

This Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) will address how climate change is having and will continue to have a dramatic impact on global public health – from natural disasters and the increased spread of infectious disease to predicted crop losses and heat waves. The MOOC will bring in experts from around the globe to discuss three primary issues: renewable energy, agriculture and food, and urban design and active transport. All learners are welcome to participate regardless of prior experience to learn more about the human impact on climate change and, ultimately, public health.

Those interested in registering can do so here: https://moocs.wisc.edu/mooc/climate-change-policy-and-public-health/.

This project has two components:  Bike to the Library Day and DIY Discussions

DIY Discussions

Libraries will be organizing and hosting discussions for each of the four weeks of the MOOC.
